The Truth Regarding Non-emergency Belize Medical Care Transportation

By Amanda Schmidt

There are many people out there who are not necessarily sick, but they may be having conditions requiring frequent medical concerns. Since they are regular visitors to their doctors for appointments or even getting medicine, they need a convenient way of transportation favorable to their condition. The truth regarding non-emergency Belize medical care transportation gives more insight to that.

To begin with, there are many people who are not aware of the existence of such services. By a simple description, such services are aimed at ensuring that a patient who does not need emergency medical care can get to the hospital at their comfort by just calling for a service delivery. The mode of transport mostly being the road.

These services differ by far with emergency transportation services. For emergency, one calls anyone on the line by just calling the emergency number and mostly it is the paramedics who do that. It can be by air or road depending on the area. It is suitable for any person who needs immediate attention. More interesting is that, for an emergency, one is normally given first aid while in transit something that is not present with the non-emergency.

There are a number of companies that have the mandate to offer these service. The payment to some is from the trips made and with other companies it falls into their health benefits. The good about having these services included in your medical benefit is that the number of times you may need your doctor is not limited.

To avoid an unnecessary congestion to these facilities, those free to use these services have been restricted preventing most people from using them. Only those who are not able to drive themselves and not allowed by their medical state to use public transportation are allowed to use this service.

It should be categorically clear that these services are not just for those having a medication appointment with their doctor. Those going for other services like dialysis, an ongoing chemo session or even a sudden need for counseling are allowed to benefit too. One should, however, assess if they meet the criteria of being a beneficiary of the services.

To make the service a reality a series of paper works has to be undertaken to prove ones eligibility. A patient needs to inform their doctor that they require the service and it is the doctor who will assess the situation to see if indeed the patient needs the service. The doctor then fills a special form that is sent to a services provider giving the company the go-ahead to offer the services.

These services have been very beneficial to many people in Belize since the facilities used are fitted with special equipment allow the patient to travel in comfort and more safety. There are instances that one can even be transported to another state or even another country for special treatment depending on their needs and application.
